The Mach-20 test of Machiavellianism measures one's tendency to be manipulative,

deceptive, and exploitative. It's modeled on the MACH-IV, which was the original test

of Machiavellianism created by Richard Christie and Florence L. Geis.

Here are six sample statements from the Mach-20. Do not draw any conclusions

based on your responses to these six statements. The test is only valid if all

20 statements are rated and scored.

Most people will take advantage of you if given half a chance.
It's better to lose than to win by cheating.
Don't tell the truth unless you're sure it's what they want to hear.
Success in life depends a lot on having a good moral character.
To get what you want, reveal as little as possible.
Most people will stand up for what they believe in.

When taking the Mach-20, you'll rate each statement on a scale from "strongly agree" to "strongly disagree." The test and scoring instructions are included in the book.
